NORFOLK-Last minute shoppers can make a big difference for people in need this Christmas.
The Salvation Army's army of bell ringers are out to take your donation - no matter how small.
"Recent tracking shows we're about $10,000 down from last year," said Kelly R. Straub.
Straub notes that 83 cents of each dollar dropped in a kettle is used to support Salvation Army programs and services in our community.
The iconic red kettles went out on November 8 and volunteers are stationed at dozens of convenient locations across Hampton Roads - Farm Fresh and Harris Teeter grocery stories, Walmart, Sam's Club, Kmart, JCPenney, Macy's, Pembroke Mall, Chesapeake Square, Walgreens and many ABC stores.
If you're one of the lucky ones and have your holiday shopping done, you can still help. Make a donation on the Salvation Army Website or call 757-543-8100.
Each year across the country, The Salvation Army helps more than 6,000,000 people at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
