PORTSMOUTH -- A Suffolk pastor has been arrested for an alleged sexual assault against a woman he previously mentored, according to police.

Police say 39-year-old Trevon D. Boone of Chesapeake, who is currently a pastor at Tabernacle Baptist Outreach Center in Suffolk, turned himself into police after learning of the charge.

According to police, Boone came into contact with the victim, who was under the age of 18 at the time of the offense, when he was a minister at a "local church."  Police have not immediately released the name of the church.

Boone began to mentor the victim and during that time he allegedly forced her to have sex with him, police said.  The alleged crime took place in the 1000 block of Clay Street, officials told 13News Now.

Boone was arraigned in court Wednesday morning.  A judge ordered a $5,000 secured bond.  His next court date is scheduled for June 18.

Anyone with any information in reference to this case is asked to call the Portsmouth Police Department’s Special Victim’s Unit at (757) 393-8536.
