CHESAPEAKE -- A Chesapeake man is charged with killing a teenager in Crestwood Park off Great Bridge Boulevard early Sunday evening.
Police say 20-year-old Andre Robinson shot 17-year-old Justice Hinton. While police didn't release any information about a motive, they did tell WVEC.com the two knew each other.
Erick Daye told 13News Now he'd played basketball with Hinton near the park a few hours before the 6:00 p.m. shooting.
"He didn't seem like the kind of kid that would get into a lot of trouble, nothing like that," Daye said of his friend whose nickname was J-Black.
The teenager's family and several friends arrived at the park, which sits next to Crestwood Intermediate School, shortly after the shooting.
"I seen his sister. She's hysterical, man. Like I said, my heart goes out to their family because it's always hardest on the family," Dayes said. "I just want people to think about what they're doing before they do it, because when you pull that trigger, you're ending somebody's life and they're gone forever and you gotta, you gotta live with that."
Robinson is charged with charged with First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.
