CHESAPEAKE -- A military family accepted a new home from Habitat for Humanity Friday.

More than 100 volunteers from Bank of America participated in a community-wide volunteer event and helped reconstruct a home for Navy veteran Michael Day, his wife Danielle and their three children.

Volunteers worked on five properties throughout South Hampton Roads and the Peninsula in an effort to restore homes and  provide affordable housing to veteran and low-income families in the area.
