CHESAPEAKE-- Mold clean-up continues inside a Chesapeake high school and school officials say it should be completed by Friday.
The principal of Hickory High School Thursday was sending letters home for parents explaining the situation.
Officials say mold is in one section of the building on the first floor. They told 13News the mold developed during the summer because of air conditioning problems, warm temperatures and lots of rain.
School spokesman Tom Cupitt stated students and teachers were relocated from contaminated areas and that clean-up was being done after school hours.
Cupitt said once it's complete, experts will revisit the school to make sure it’s safe.
