2/18 UPDATE:  27-year-old Tiffany Shepherd has been charged with malicious wounding, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, discharging a firearm in an occupied building and two counts of reckless care for a child.
Police say her two children, ages one and ten, were home at the time of the shooting; they're now with a family member.

CHESAPEAKE -- A man was shot outside a Chesapeake apartment complex during a domestic dispute Monday night.

Police say he was shot by a woman in the 3100 block of Border Road just after 6 p.m. Monday.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot to the arm.

According to Chesapeake police spokesperson Officer Leo Kosinski, she got home to her apartment and found the man, her child's father, inside.  A fight ensued and she fired one shot, Kosinski said.

Charges are pending and investigators are trying to determine whether she fired in self-defense.
