CHESAPEAKE -- Get creative and help raise awareness of breast cancer in the 2014 Bra-ha-ha.
Just create a bra with the awareness theme, or whatever theme you'd like, and submit it to the Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation by September 3; registration ends August 22.
This is the seventh year for the Bra-ha-ha®. Each year, hundreds of creative designers draw upon personal experience with breast cancer — as survivors, family members, friends of survivors, or simply as supporters of the cause — and use that inspiration to create a theme with which to decorate a basic 38C bra. The designs are judged and presented in a much anticipated fashion-show and awards competition.
“The annual awards show has become one of the most exciting and rewarding events in our community,” said Shirley Forbes, The Bra-ha-ha committee chair. “There isn’t a person who hasn’t been impacted by breast cancer in some way and the amazing camaraderie of everyone involved in this project has helped to deliver hundreds of free mammograms to women in need, saving at least 15 lives.”
Again, decorated bras aren't due until Wednesday, September 3. Your creations may be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center's Marketing Department. The office is located at 667 Kingsborough Square, Suite 300, in Chesapeake.
The Awards Show and Auction is September 26 at the Chesapeake Conference Center. 13News Now anchor Vanessa Coria will be one of the judges.
All entries will then be exhibited free for the public at Greenbrier Mall from September 29 through October 11.
