CHESAPEAKE-- A portion of the Tidewater Fiber Corp Recycling plant was damaged by a fire late Sunday afternoon.
The fire was reported around 2:20 p.m. and when firefighters arrived in the 1900 block of Diamond Hill Road, heavy smoke was visible from the outside of the warehouse.
Firefighters managed to contain most of the flames to bales of recyclable paper products, but the building sustained some smoke and heat damage.
Investigators believe the fire may have started when sparks from a grinding operation came in contact with some of the paper products.
No injuries were reported.
