Domestic Fuels and Lube fire
CHESAPEAKE--Crews are cleaning up diesel fuel spilled when fire caused an explosion at a Chesapeake business.
A fire official in South Norfolk saw smoke coming from Domestic Fuels and Lube on E. Liberty Street around 11:15 a.m.
"Employees were transferring product from one tank to the other when the transfer pump caught fire," Battalion Chief Mike Thibeault told WVEC.com.
The fire was quickly brought under control.
About 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled and is being cleaned up.
The fire destroyed a 500-gallon tank, a forklift and the transfer pump, but no one was hurt and the business remains open, Chief Thibeault added.
