CHESAPEAKE - A family of five can't stay in their home because it was badly damaged by fire.

Smoke was pouring from the home on Linden Avenue when crews arrived around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday.

It took about 20 minutes for the firefighters to get the blaze, in the Indian River section, under control, said Capt. Scott Saunders.

The Red Cross provided food, clothing and lodging assistance to the family.

No one was hurt; the cause of the fire is under investigation.
