CHESAPEAKE--A Virginia Beach man is still recovering in the hospital Monday, after being shot while delivering Chinese food in Chesapeake over the weekend.

According to police, Paul Michael Paternite was shot in the stomach after he was robbed at a house on Malcolm Court.

The two suspects ran away from the scene.

Paternite managed to climb into his car and drive to the Solo gas station on Campostella Road where he called police.

"Paul Michael has always been the type where he doesn't let anything get to him," said Stephen Hooker, a close friend to Paternite.

Hooker says he was shocked something so terrible happened to such a fun-loving guy.

"He's funny, he's hilarious. If you look at his facebook it just tells it all, he's hilarious."

Paternite's co-workers at Great China are upset by the shooting.

"I'm scared. I've never had that happen before and I'm scared," said Andy Cheng, manager of the Great China restaurant.

Now his co-workers and his friends want justice.

"I want them locked up, don't let them back out," said Hooker.

A close friend says Paternite is still in the hospital, listed in "good" condition.  Doctors have not been able to remove the bullet from his stomach.
