CHESAPEAKE -- Eight Chesapeake schools on Tuesday will receive $1,000 each and be stocked with supplies because of a donation from a non-profit group.
The James C. Archbell III Foundation, a non-profit arm of Chesapeake-based A&W Contractors, Inc., is giving the economic boost to the Title 1 schools in a 4:00 p.m. ceremony.
The Foundation says the schools will use the money to purchase additional supplies for needy students, educational materials and other classroom necessities.
These kids are our future and we need to equip them with the tools and supplies they need to succeed in school and in life, said organization founder James Archbell.
The Foundation also has made a commitment to rewarding achieving students.
Tuesday's donations will go to Oscar Smith Middle School, Sparrow Road Elementary, Georgetown Primary, Truitt Intermediate, Thurgood Marshall Elementary, G.A. Treakle Elementary, Crestwood Intermediate and Camelot Elementary.
