CHESAPEAKE -- The North Landing Bridge in Chesapeake will close to navigation from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 2.

The closure, which is required as crews replace electrical cables at the bridge, will prevent passage through the Albemarle and Chesapeake Canal - Route 1- of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

The North Landing Bridge is located at mile 20.2 of the AIWW.

Vessels on the AIWW during the closure may use Route 2 through the Dismal Swamp Canal. The controlling depth of the canal is 6 feet, and the locking times are 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Vessel operators may call 757-201-7642 regarding the Albemarle and Chesapeake Canal closure or Dismal Swamp Canal conditions. Lock and bridge operators monitor marine channel 13.
