The Chesapeake Criterium Bike Race
This all-day event is a great opportunity for families to experience top-level bike racing in Chesapeake for all United States Cycling Federation Categories.
Presented by Velo Racing Virginia Inc. and Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

Parking and registration will be at The Great Bridge Community Center, 306 Cedar Road. 

Bill Jenkins and the Virginia Mountain Boys
Saturday, August 9 at 7:30 p.m. at The American Theatre, 125 E Mellen St, Hampton
Singer, songwriter and cross-picking guitar virtuoso Bill Jenkins and his string band, the Virginia Mountain Boys, bring to life the authentic ballads, camp meeting songs, and early Bluegrass favorites of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, in a style that is uniquely their own.
Jenkins will be inducted into the Hall of Fame Room at the Virginia Musical Museum prior to this show.

Chris Botti with special guest Forte Jazz Band
Friday, August 08 at 8:00 p.m. at the Ferguson Center for the Arts, Newport News
Trumpeter Chris Botti is one of the largest-selling American instrumental artist.
Opening the evening is Forte Jazz Band from Smithfield. This eight-piece ensemble’s style is a blend of smooth jazz, jazz standards and jazzy R&B, with original music comprising most of their repertoire. Their current album, “Chase the Rhythm,” is full of fun and rhythmic segments that highlight the percussion section.

Centered on the theme of Balancing Acts, the local playwrights examine the delicate and sometimes dangerous balancing acts that people must perform as they make their way through life.
