VIRGINIA BEACH -- A new “green” home built by more than 100 high school students was unveiled Wednesday by the Virginia Beach Education Foundation.

It's a three-bedroom, 2 1/2-bathroom, 1,800 square feet house.  It has features like an aluminum roof, energy efficient windows, flooring developed from 60% recycled material, water heater timer and recirculating system and more.

The house is up for sale at a price of $395,000.

With proceeds from the sale of the home, the Education Foundation will fund various projects used by more than 20,000 students each school year.

This is the 15th year the Education Foundation has built homes.

For over two years, students from the Virginia Beach Technical and Career Center working on the construction of the house received hands-on, technical training in various fields such as masonry, plumbing, electrical services, landscape design, carpentry, and heating and air conditioning installation.

36 businesses discounted or donated materials and/or labor to help build the house.

The two-story house is located at 413 23-and-a-half Street in Virginia Beach.

For more information on the house, call 757-263-1069.
