WILLIAMSBURG -- Walsingham Academy in Williamsburg has come up with a unique way to save energy and educate students at the same time.

A new solar energy system was installed that has already started saving the school on its power usage.  Monitoring the energy production has become part of the curriculum for the environmental science classes.

Science teacher Ashley Forman says it is definitely a win-win situation.

"Absolutely, I think it was great because of course the sun is guaranteed to come up every day.  So that's an excellent way for us to harness that energy and live a more cleaner lifestyle especially here at Walsingham," said Forman.

Pyramid Roofing formed a partnership with Walsingham Academy.  They donated services and say that this system should reduce energy consumption for the next 25 years.  They also say that amount should decrease over time.
