NORFOLK--Norfolk hopes more residents will recycle if they get something for doing so.

By signing up for Recycling Perks and recycling regularly, you can earn as much as $300.00 to use at businesses in Norfolk and across the region.

Starting Monday, crews will be installing Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) bar codes on your curbside recycling carts.

For your part, on your scheduled recycling day, put your house or apartment number on the cart and then leave it on the curb until 5:00 p.m.

City officials say you'll know when your cart has been coded because there will be a hang-tag left on it.

The program kicks off October 2.   TFC Recycling crews will scan tagged carts and award points will automatically go to your account.

This program doesn't cost anything and won't change your collection schedule.

Remember, you have to sign up to benefit from Recycling Perks, which you can do on the the website. If you have questions, you can call 543-5766.
