VIRGINIA BEACH - Last year, Cape Henry finished 20-8 overall but with a good amount of returners; Coach Weiss looks to have another great year. “We’re going to be pretty strong this season. We have a lot of returners. We lost one senior last year. We were solid losing the semi-finals last year so I think we will make a run for it with a handful of the others again,” said Coach Weiss.

As for experience wise, the Dolphins will be stacked with seven returners that will make up a strong lineup for the 2014 season. “There’s a couple that have been playing since they were freshman. My setter Gabrielle Goodall has been starting since eighth grade which is a testament to her ability. Kristina Smith the outside hitter, she’s been phenomenal made all-state first team last year. Kelsey Lee the middle, another strong senior who is going to come in and do some work for us,” said Coach Weiss.

Cape Henry just started practices last week and Coach Weiss believes they are going well.

“Improvement, it’s always improvement from year to year. I want to see the individual players grow. I want to see the team grow. I think that we have a lot of maturity and growth on this team. They will be strong,” said Coach Weiss.

Be sure to check out Cape Henry girls volleyball next Tuesday as they play a non-conference match up against Green Run at Kellam High School.
