VIRGINIA BEACH -- A 10-year-old boy came across a 14,000-year-old spear point while kicking rocks on the shoreline in Pungo.

Jesse Hutson said he was just hanging out with his family behind the old Captain George's on Old Pungo Ferry Road when he spotted something.

"It looked different because of the shavings," he said.

He and his parents took it to the Museum of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, NC, where the curator confirmed its age.

It's an Ice Age artifact from the Paleo-Indians, who were among the first people to inhabit the Americas, officials said.

Hutson says he gets to keep the piece of history while it goes under further review by professors at East Carolina University."
