VIRGINIA BEACH -- Now that the ramps along Interstate 264 in the London Bridge area are open, businesses there are hoping to see a positive economic boost.

Ramps both on and off I-264 opened Wednesday, eight months ahead of schedule.

The project is funded by federal stimulus money and was a partnership between VDOT and contractor Waterfront Marine.

Lee Fentress who operates London Bridge Nursery hopes it will bring more traffic into his store; however, he still has concerns.

"It's getting out that we're concerned about, because you have to see over two lanes of traffic to see what's coming from the south," said Fentress.

The hope is the new ramps will cut down on long lines at Lynnhaven Road trying to get on and off the interstate during peak driving times.

"It's going to make it more convenient to get here instead of going all the way down.  And it's going to free up some traffic up there at Lynnhaven, so you like it.  I haven't been on it yet but I like the idea," said driver Kerri Graber.
