NORFOLK-- The grandson of a Norfolk pastor was shot to death Tuesday night.

Officers were called to South Cape Henry Avenue around 10:45 p.m. and found the victim in the street. Residents say they heard a half-dozen gunshots around that time.

Relatives told 13News that Stacey Cherry, 21, had been visiting his grandmother.  Family members rushed to the scene after getting the news.

Cherry's grandfather is pastor of St. Paul Church of Christ Disciples, which had to make repairs after thieves ripped copper piping from the building last month.

An email from the church to its members asked that the family be kept in prayers.

No information on suspects has been released.
