VIRGINIA BEACH -- A man will spend 21 years in prison for robbing a bank twice last year.
Tracy Mills robbed the Wachovia Bank at 1612 Independence Blvd. in January and again in April.
During the April robbery, he left in a car, which was spotted by a Va. Beach police officer.
When he didn’t stop when ordered to do so, the officer opened fire, wounding Mills who lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a house.
Mills pleaded guilty to 13 charges -- four counts each of armed robbery and use of a firearm, two counts each of armed entry into bank and wearing a mask and one count of assault of a law enforcement officer.
He was sentenced to 153 years, 132 suspended, leaving 21 to serve, Commonwealth’s Attorney spokeswoman Macie Pridgen told WVEC.com.
The officer’s shooting was justified and no charges will be filed against that officer, Pridgen added.
