HAMPTON -- A pest control expert will be treating a Hampton elementary school for bed bugs this weekend.
Twice this week, the insects were found in different rooms at Tucker-Capps. A school district spokeswoman says the classrooms where they were found were treated that same day.
Bed bugs can latch on to things like clothing and bags, so it's not clear how the few bugs got inside.
Not all T-C parents were aware of the problem; Hampton Schools says it only notified parents of children who were in the affected classrooms, which is standard protocol.
Saturday's Treatment schedule:
Contractors will mobilize and treat all areas - classrooms, offices, library, cafeteria, etc.
Chemicals: Diatamaish Earth, (dry power or dust, non-toxic) used in swimming pool filters; Zeprion, Bedalin - concentrated sprays.
Focus Areas: cracks, crevices, wall injections, floor edges, carpets, all desks
After treatment, there will be a follow up inspection
