NORFOLK -  In six days Bob McDonnell will become the Commonwealth's 71st governor and on his way to the governor's mansion he stopped in Hampton roads to thank his supporters.

Hundreds gathered at the Chrysler museum for the inaugural ball. One of many inaugural celebrations leading up to next Saturday's swearing-in. And even though Virginians elected McDonnell to lead the commonwealth back in November he is still on the campaign trail.Throughout the week the soon to be governor is pushing Virginians to give generously to area food banks and to the Salvation Army. Tonight those in attendance filled barrels with can foods and winter coats.
