NORFOLK -- It's February, but it's not too early to start thinking about your school ring dance and prom.
The Fairy Godmothers of Virginia are gearing up for the 7th annual Prom Fair and need you to donate the dress you once wore for girls who can't afford to buy a new one.
Green Run High School seniors Jasmine Sills and Jelana Anderson got their dream dresses last year.
"It helped a lot because normally dresses are about $300 plus, so it was only $10 and it was very affordable for me," said Anderson.
The non-profit group accepts dresses that are gently used and clean, in good condition and that are in style. Accessories are needed, too.
"We're here for girls who really don't have the extra money to go and spend on a dress, whether it's their parents or they just work really hard for their money and need to be budget conscious for their prom," explained Wendy Baylor.
Donate dresses all this month at Dillard's at MacArthur Center in downtown Norfolk.
Girls who qualify can sign up online for Prom Fair 2012, which takes place March 7-11 at Norfolk Academy.
If you'd like to volunteer to help at the fair, contact the Fairy Godmothers of Virginia.
"They were very successful with making my ring dance just a dream come true," said Sills.
