Hampton robbery thwarted
HAMPTON -- A sharp-eyed Hampton policeman stopped a robber before he could act, authorities said.
The detective saw someone with his face covered and acting suspiciously as he walked toward E-Z Pick convenience store on W. Mercury Blvd. Tuesday night. As the detective approached, the man ran off but was found a short time later.
Cory Jamal Walker, 21, had a gun and was about to rob the store, according to police investigators. He's charged with attempted robbery, wearing a mask in public and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
