VIRGINIA BEACH -- A Virginia Beach school bus and a car were involved in an accident Wednesday afternoon.
It happened around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of London Bridge Road and Weybridge Road.
Schools spokeswoman Nancy Soscia says the bus had 5 students aboard. They were being taken from Salem High School's academy program and were put on another school bus to go home.
Officials say no one on the bus was hurt; however, the car's driver was taken to the hospital with lacerations to the head.
Police spokesman MPO Adam Bernstein says witnesses told investigators the school bus disregarded a red light and struck the car on the passenger side.
The driver was issued a summons for disregarding a red light, Bernstein said.
