NEWPORT NEWS -- 15 men from across Hampton Roads were arrested in a joint Internet prostitution operation between Newport News and Cook County, Illinois.

Police said an ad was placed on a website, which they won't name, on February 3. "Johns" were able to solicit and arrange to meet "prostitutes" at a hotel. They were arrested when they made contact at the hotel.

Two soldiers based at Fort Eustis, a sailor assigned to USS Theodore Roosevelt, a podiatrist and a former Va. Tech football star  Maurice Jesse DeShazo, who was inducted into the university's 2009 Hall of Fame for leading the Hokies to their first back-to-back bowl games.

It was part of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office “A National Day of Johns Arrests" program, Newport News Police said.

Police also are not naming the hotel because the investigation continues.

The men are charged with soliciting prostitution.
