CHESAPEAKE -- One person was killed and another injured when their car crashed early Friday.

It happened at 4:00 a.m. at Old Mill and Brown roads.

According to police, the car driven by Paul William Heron, 26, appeared to be speeding on Old Mill Road and struck a tree.

He was killed; his passenger, also 26, is hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to accident investigators, alcohol and speed were factors in the crash and neither person was wearing a seat belt.

The survivor's name hasn't been released.
