HAMPTON -- The annual Hampton Jazz festival is this weekend.  Headliner Charlie Wilson was taking it up a notch during Friday's sound check.

Jazz fan Karen Pounds flew down from Albany, New York.

"I am smiling already. This is a beautiful town - first time," said Pounds.

Organizers agree that the jazz is only part of the story on this weekend in Hampton.

"To do reunions, they do their vacation here. And it just happens that while they are on vacation here, it is interrupted by three concerts," said Hampton Coliseum Manager Joe Tsao.

"You know I think it's a great weekend for people to come. It's a great weekend getaway. They can see three great days of music, and we've managed to keep our ticket prices very reasonable," added Festival Partner Joe Santangelo.

Natalie Cole and Kenny G. and Jill Scott will also take the stage Friday night.

Chuck Archie came to the first ever jazz festival and was buying his tickets for Friday night's show.

"I haven't been in a long time and I heard that Natalie is going to be here,"  said Archie.

Karen Pounds has her favorite for sure. And she can't wait!

"Will Downing. I even have a t-shirt, yes!"

The concert begins at 7:30 Friday.  Saturday and Sunday performances are all sold out.
