VIRGINIA BEACH -- The students at Princess Anne Middle School are tooting their own horns.
They're ready to rally in Saturday's 13NEWS/RACHEL'S CHALLENGE RALLY against school violence and bullying.
"We want to show everybody how even the smallest act of kindness can impact the world," PAMS student Lilly Tyree-Herrman said.
Choosing kindness and respect over violence, prejudice and bullying are hallmarks of the Rachel's Challenge program. PAMS students know. Theirs is the first school in Hampton Roads to adopt the Rachel's Challenge program.
Over the course of the year, the students have started welcoming committees designed to help new students fit in, been part of school wide Lend-a-Hand program for the Red Cross and collected backpacks for homeless children for the PIN ministry. The backpacks were filled with hats, gloves, scarves, socks, small toys and more.
On Saturday, our rally salutes them and everyone else who works to stomp out bullying in our schools.
