NORFOLK -- OpSail 2012 salutes our maritime history with ships from around the world stopping in Norfolk for 12 days in June.
Part of the celebration is a musical revue called Swingtime Salute, An On-Deck Revue. From the deck of the Battleship Wisconsin, singers and dancers will recreate a 1940s touring variety show.
The show opens May 31 and runs through July 8 and is a partnership between Nauticus and the Va. Stage Company.
You'll be taken back in time to enjoy the era's popular tunes from the Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, Glenn Miller, Jimmy Dorsey and more.
The retro celebration of the Swing Era is for the whole family, says Patrick Mullens with the Va. Stage Company.
Shows are Thursday through Sundays at 8:00 p.m. Tickets cost $30 for Thursday shows and $40 for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows. You can get them at the Va. Stage Company box office at 110 Tazewell Street, by calling 1-800-982-2787 or going online through the Va. Stage Company Website.
There will be free shuttle rides to and from the City Hall & Plume Street garages to the Battleship on show nights.
