NORFOLK -- Because of OpSail, the streets of Norfolk are unusually packed.
Friday afternoon, the Berkley Bridge had an extended opening to let ships through. It caused a two-mile backup in each direction.
Downtown on Boush Street, traffic was moving, but slowly in the afternoon hours.
"Traffic is going to get worse," said one driver. "We're here mid-day so it's not that bad, but later on as it cools down, I think it's going to get busy."
As for parking, the city of Norfolk says it has 19,000 parking spaces.
Parking is available at the following city lots: Harbor Park, Brambleton, Education, Plume Street, St. Paul's and Harrison Opera House. Most parking will be $5.00. MacArthur Center parking garage will be open for regular operation and rates.
