NORFOLK-- The Chrysler Museum of Art is celebrating OpSail 2012 Virginia.

It's a stop on the "Free Way," the no-cost transportation offered from OpSail to attractions and hotels around town.

You can start your OpSail experience Friday night with the 1812 On The Hague concert and fireworks, a community concert with the Virginia Symphony. The free concert on the lawn begins at 8:00 p.m. and ended with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. The symphony will play favorites by Beethoven, Rossini, Strauss, and Rimsky-Korsakov. The grand finale wouldn't be grand without Tchaikovsky’s rousing 1812 Overture complete with live fireworks shot from the roof of the Museum.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair, a picnic supper and family and friends to help kick off OpSail2012 under the stars.

There's extra parking at the nearby Harrison Opera House, a Tide light rail stop at the York Street/Freemason Station.

Next week, June 6-8, the Chrysler's glass studio will help you create your own souvenir boat. There are special Maritime Casting sessions and no experience is required. The studio offers free glass art demonstrations at noon every Wednesday through Sunday.
