April 2, 2010, 10:48 a.m., ABOARD USS BATAAN -- The captain just held an "all-hands" meeting on the flight deck for the 1,000 or so sailors still aboard. This was a big pat-on-the-back for everyone here who has spent the past 80 days in Haiti. The officers are clearly quite pleased with the mission all the ships in the group completed. "You all helped saved thousands of lives," Commodore Thomas Negus told the crowd. In just a few moments, the Bataan -- the last ship to leave Haiti -- will shove off from Morehead City, N.C. Sailors are quite ready to go home. They have cell phone coverage here and are busy making plans for when they return... You'll see a lot of them out at dinner with their spouses tomorrow night, I can tell you that!
