OUTER BANKS-- What a magical place!
I always wanted to visit the Outer Banks and Friday I got my chance.
My friend, a Virginia Beach native, took me on an awesome tour.
We took a boat ride from Knotts Island to Carova. After docking, we hopped into a Jeep and drove down the beach. I really wanted to see the wild Corolla horses, but I wasn't sure if we'd spot any.
We did! I loved seeing the cattle egrets, a white bird, riding the horses. It's a symbiotic relationship. The birds eat flies and ticks that bother the horses. Plus, it makes for a great picture...if you can snap one before the egret flies off :)
I'm so happy to live in Hampton Roads. I grew up in Ohio. I can't get over the concept of just driving to the beach on a whim. I'm no longer land locked and it feels great!
