NORFOLK -- Music plays a big role in the annual Virginia Arts Festival.
Bridging the gulf between rock n’ roll and classical music, conductor/arranger Brent Havens presents The Music of Led Zeppelin, a rock symphony he scored to extend the listening experience of the group's music.
“Our concept for The Music of Led Zeppelin was to take the music as close to the originals as we could and then add some colors to enhance what Zep had done,” says Havens.
The performance with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra is at the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach on May 9 at 8 p.m. Click here for more information and tickets.
Ahead of the concert, starting Thursday actually, Cirque Mechanics will perform in the Sandler Center Plaza. The circus-style performers thrill the audience from an 22-foot high gantry. It's the modern, high-tech twist on the traveling circus and it's free.
