HAMPTON - Several events are coming up to benefit Transitions Family Violence Services.

The private nonprofit organization aims to build safe and healthy families on the Peninsula by assisting adult and child victims through the provision of shelter, counseling, advocacy and education services.

First up is a 5K run-walk on Saturday, August 24 on the Matteson Trail, 320 Butler Farm Road in Hampton. It begins at 8:30 a.m. It costs $25 to register ahead and $30 on race day. You can even be a virtual runner/walker for $20.00. For information, contact 722-2261.

The group is collecting items for its upcoming yard sale. Do learn how to donate your unwanted, gently used items, call 728-0025.

The Yard Sale is set for September 7 and 8.

Transitions offers family violence services in Hampton, Newport News, and Poquoson, and is a co-provider of services in York County.
