VIRGINIA BEACH-Get your rod and reel ready and haul in the fish.
The 9th annual Virginia Beach Tuna Tournament is June 26-29 at Marina Shores, 2100 Marina Shores Dr., off Great Neck Rd. in Virginia Beach.
Proceeds from the tournament benefit EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding Program.
Organizers say last year's tournament paid out over $87,500 in cash. The tournament has a 100% payout on all entry fees and Calcuttas. There are two official scales, one in Lynnhaven and one in Rudee Inlet. The scales are open to the public and are worth stopping by to see some really big fish being weighed.
In 2012, the winning boat was the Marlin Maniac which broke the tournament record with a combined total of three fish weighing an astounding 445 pounds.
