VIRGINIA BEACH- A fundraising campaign kicks off Thursday at the Signature West Neck Golf Club for the Toby's Dream Foundation. The first event is the 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament to raise money to grant wishes to area children who are battling life-threatening illnesses. The tournament is one of several events that runs throughout the weekend including the Ride to a Wish event, a Zombie obstacle course, and the Olde Towne Fall Crawl.
The golf tournament is an 18-hole golf classic with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. on Thursday October 4 with "On the Course" contests, door prizes, and Mulligan cards for sale. Participants will receive a boxed lunch, complimentary snacks and drinks and a TDF golf goodie bag. An awards presentation and post-event cookout, as well as a silent auction, will take place on-site immediately following tournament play. Individual player registration is $175 in advance of October 4 and includes green fees with cart. Same day registration is available for $200 at the door. The Zombie Run is sold out but you can still come out and check out the undead fun of a 5K zombie-infested obstacle course at Greenbrier Farms in Chesapeake on Saturday, October 6. The 5/8k fun run registration starts at 9 a.m. and runners depart at 10 a.m. There will also be a cornhole tournament and live music from David Pavalok, the Dynamos, Jim Smith’s Memories form Memphis Elvis tribute, Ed Kelleher as Toby Keith, and Almost Queen, the Queen tribute band. Also on Saturday, October 6th, the Olde Towne Fall Crawl will take over downtown Porstmouth to raise money for the Toby's Dream Foundation. It will cover High Street and Court Street in Olde Towne with particpating locations including Roger Brown's, Bier Garden, Paddy O'Brian's, Thumpers, 619 Cantina, Griff's, Longboards, Still, and the grand re-opening of Baron's Pub. Registration is required and is $25 online before the event or $30 at Baron’s Pub from 4-6 p.m. on the day of the event. Registration includes wristband good for specials at each establishment, T-shirt, souvenir cup, souvenir magnet, guide map, and other promotional items.
