VIRGINIA BEACH- There's still time to sign up for the 2012 Armed Services YMCA's 8K Mud Run on August 11 from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.

This year, about 2,500 children and adults, civilian and military Mud Runners, will be running, slipping and sliding through the surf, sand and mud of the course.

The Mud Run has become the signature event for the ASYMCA, a non-profit organization serving junior military families throughout the region. The proceeds from the Mud Run help the ASYMCA provide junior military families childcare, child development, spouse support activities and much more.

Each year the ASYMCA gives adult runners an eight-kilometer, mud-slinging, heart-pumping course to conquer and a fun-filled but challenging Mini-Mud Run for children.

Registration forms are available for team or single entry on the Website. For additional information on the ASYMCA Mud Run or to volunteer, call (757) 761-8931.
