NEWPORT NEWS-A Peninsula woman is spearheading an effort to collect warm clothing for those in need.

Constance Talley and other volunteers are involved in Project Warmth, collecting coats, blankets, scarves, socks, hats, etc. for the homeless in downtown Newport News.  Donations are also given to the Peninsula Men's Mission and Boys and Girls Club.

"Project Warmth has a slew of dedicated supporters, local businesses. people mail us stuff from out of state, donations from friends, families and churches," she said.

Project Warmth is an initiative to collect new and gently used coats and blankets as well as cash donations to help people in need during extremely cold weather.
