New West Marine store in Va. Beach has charity night tonight

VIRGINIA BEACH - The grand opening of the new West Marine store in Virginia Beach kicks off Sept. 12 with the “Cruising for a Cause” charity night.  

Councilman Jim Wood will officially cut the ribbon on the new store at Loehmann's Plaza at 6:00 p.m.

Tickets are $10.00 and money benefits local marine-related charities - Great Bridge Fisherman’s Association, Catchin’ for Kids, BoatU.S. Foundation, Virginia Beach Anglers Club, Portsmouth Anglers, Norfolk Anglers and Wish-a-Fish Foundation.

There will be music by Lewis McGehee, a live auction with radio host Captain Reese and food from Reginella’s Italian restaurant.

Grand Opening Weekend events:
BoatU.S. Foundation will hold the kids’ life jacket fittings on Friday from 3-4 pm and Saturday, from 1-3 pm. 

Friday: Jet Ski Brian and Kayak Kevin talking about jet ski and kayak fishing

Saturday:   the Virginia Beach Aquarium Stranding Team will be there to talk about their rescue program.

Sunday: kids’ boat building and Rip Tide will be there from the Norfolk Tides. Host of “Catchin’ with Captain Reese” fishing expert and radio icon Reese Bowles will be there to answer your questions on inshore and offshore fishing
