NORFOLK -- Primeplus Norfolk Senior Center’s fifth annual “Men Who Cook: Hampton Roads” premiere amateur chef competition is sure to dish up some fun this Saturday.
The event gets underway at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 at the Norfolk Plaza Hotel located at 700 Monticello Ave.
“It is a food-filled evening with 25 two-man teams of local amateur chefs competing against each other for the title of Top Chef. The food presentations are diverse, imaginative--and rival many of the area’s top professionals,” says Primeplus Norfolk Senior Center Executive Director Lynne Berg.
While the guests taste the chefs’ delectable creations, Becky Livas will provide musical entertainment. There is also a silent auction of attractive themed gift baskets.
“’Men Who Cook’ was created as one solution to meet our fiscal challenges as we work to help older adults age successfully and enjoy a good quality of life." says Berg.
Proceeds from the event will provide wellness programming and support for the Primeplus nutrition program which serves over 1,000 hot, home cooked meals for seniors each month. Money earned will also help fund the facility's adult day care program.
Tickets are $50 in advance, $55 at the door, and $180 for a four pack.
