Events to teach children about electricity and safety

NORFOLK - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says every day, nearly seven children are treated in hospital emergency rooms for electrical shock or burns caused by tampering with a wall outlet.  

May is electrical safety month, so Dominion Virginia Power and WHRO have teamed up for two “Switched on Safety” events. They're specifically designed for children to help them learn how to be safe around electricity.

The events are free. 

May 31st
Virginia Aquarium in Virginia Beach
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

June 1st:
Virginia Living Museum in Newport News
1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
