VIRGINIA BEACH- Nearly 2,500 runners will take the challenge to run 5 miles of grueling sand, obstacles and mud next month.

The 13th annual Armed Services YMCA Mud Run at JEB Little Creek is Saturday, August 10.

The run benefits the ASYMCA in providing support and services to junior soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen and their families.

Organizers say they've had to restrict the use of bags because of the events surrounding the Boston Marathon Tragedy. Bags will not be allowed past the parking lot area,  so organizers remind runners to plan accordingly.
