NORFOLK -- All aboard! to see the Lionel toy train exhibit in Norfolk.
It's July 25-28 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott in downtown in ballroom #3 on the first floor of the hotel. .
The expansive exhibit coincides with the Lionel Collectors Club of America's annual conference.
The layout, as large as a four-stall garage, features amazing detail, realistic sound systems and state-of-the-art technology found on today’s commercial trains.
The model train exhibit will be open to the public, July 25-27 from 10:00 a.m. until 9 p.m., and on July 28, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Model trains will be available for purchase on Saturday, only.
Saturday is kid’s day at the train show, with kid-friendly events all day long! Hampton Roads’ Boy Scouts are encouraged to attend in uniform for the opportunity to earn a BSA Railroading Merit Badge. Pre-registration for the badge is required. Girl Scouts attending in uniform on Saturday can qualify for a Norfolk Southern Girl Scout Patch.
A children’s toy train play area will be set up in the atrium of the Marriott Hotel for hands-on fun. Operation Lifesaver, a railroad safety organization will be offering up safety tips.
