NORFOLK -- The Sea Level Singer/Songwriter Festival returns for a sixth straight year April 4-6, 2013, featuring a showcase concert on Saturday April 6 and a Singer/Songwriter contest to choose this year’s Emerging Artist.

The headliner of the traditional kick-off concert at the Naro Expanded Cinema on Thursday, April 4, will be Glen Phillips, lead singer of Toad the Wet Sprocket.

The Sea Level/Songwriter Festival will also feature Live Performance Showcases by local musicians, an outdoor open stage, street musicians, a custom Merrill Guitar raffle, and the Instruments of Art silent auction.

On April 6th the Emerging Artist Contest will be held featuring 10 locally selected semifinalists to perform one song each at the Attucks Theater. That evening, a panel of judges will choose three finalists to perform a second song and then select the winner.

Festival sponsor Seven Venues will invite the winner of the Emerging Artist Contest to headline a show in the Attucks Theater 2014 Discovery Series. The winner also will be a guest on Hunter at Sunrise (WHRV HD3), The Hampton Roads Show on WAVY TV and Out of the Box (WHRV FM 89.5), and will receive studio time and photography services.
