--Holiday decorations get pretty shabby after a few years. Remember, everything’s not an heirloom. If it’s worn out, toss it. If you haven’t used it in a couple of years, donate it to a thrift store.
--Whenever practical, decorate with disposable items like crepe paper and inexpensive items from the dollar store. After the holidays you can just remove the decoration and toss them in the trash.
--If you loved your holiday decorations this year, take a picture and tape it to the storage box. That way you’ll be able to duplicate the look next year.
--Before you remove permanent garland, use a twist tie to attach a tag that lets you know where it goes.
--Instead of storing extra bulbs separately, place them in plastic bags and tape the bags to light strings. Next year, you’ll have them when you need them.
--Save cardboard tubes from paper towels and gift wrap. Slit them down the middle and slip them over rolls of left over wrapping paper to keep it secure.
--Store essentials together -- like your wreath hanger with the wreath, extension cords with lighted decorations and extra hooks with ornaments.
