Rubbing
Alcohol
Of
all the products stashed in your bathroom cabinet,
rubbing alcohol is one of the most useful, because
it’s inexpensive and it makes a great alternative
for lots of other things. Here are a few ideas.
|
To help cut down on exposure to germs, sterilize children’s
toys, furniture, and changing tables by wiping them down with
rubbing alcohol.
Fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and use it
to sanitize your cleaning supplies. A thorough spray will
help eliminate germs on mops, buckets, and brushes.
In the bathroom alcohol can be used to clean caulking
around the tub and to shine aluminum fixtures.
Remove a lipstick stain by pre-treating the stain with
rubbing alcohol, then toss it in the washer and launder as
usual.
Rubbing alcohol can also help to remove ink stains.
Soak the stain with alcohol then blot with a light cloth.
Keep working until the stain is gone.
Make your own window cleaner by blending a cup of alcohol
with a cup of water and a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid.
Alcohol also helps to remove the smell of cigarette
smoke. Just wipe off surfaces that have been exposed and odors
will begin to disappear.
To get a smooth, clean finish on white shoes, wipe them first
with rubbing alcohol then apply white shoe polish.
Alcohol can even be used to keep plants healthy. A blend of
water, alcohol, and soap applied to plants will help kill
mealy bugs and other plant pests.
